Hari Srinivasan, LinkedIn's Chief Product Officer, announced the new button and related updates in a post on the platform. He made clear that the company sees AI slop as a serious concern.

"AI slop is a top priority for all of us," Srinivasan wrote. He added that LinkedIn "really care[s] about this" and is taking multiple steps to clean up the feed.

The new report button is one part of a larger system. LinkedIn is ramping up new classifiers designed to identify "if a post is AI-slop or generally low-quality content," according to Srinivasan. These classifiers will "reduce the amount of AI slop you might see in suggested content and content from outside your network."

The button itself will also help the company improve its detection. Srinivasan said the feedback will help LinkedIn "tune our models and make better feeds."
