Anthropic Brings Claude Cowork to Mobile and Web

Anthropic is bringing its Claude Cowork AI platform to mobile and web devices starting Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The expansion marks the first time the tool will be available outside of the desktop app.

The rollout is beginning with Max subscribers. Users on other Claude plans will get access "in the coming weeks," according to the company.

Cloud-Based Sessions and Cross-Device Continuity

Previously, Claude Cowork was limited to the Claude desktop app for macOS and Windows. Now users on iOS and Android can access the platform as well. Anthropic noted that the "full experience" for Cowork will remain on the desktop app, which includes features such as local file access.

Cowork sessions will now run in the cloud by default. That means users can start a task on one device and continue it on another, even when their laptop is closed. For those who prefer local processing, the desktop app still offers the option to switch between cloud and local modes.

Scheduled tasks are also getting an upgrade. They will now run even when none of a user's devices are online. Additionally, Claude can send Cowork notifications to a user's phone when it has something ready for review or approval.

Extended Usage Limits

Alongside the mobile and web launch, Anthropic is extending its doubled Cowork usage limits through August 5, 2026. The company had previously raised these limits to encourage heavier usage during the initial rollout.

Claude Cowork is designed as an AI assistant that can perform tasks across documents, web browsing, and code editing. The platform competes with other AI productivity tools from companies like OpenAI and Google.

Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, has focused on building safe and interpretable AI systems. Claude, the company's flagship model, has gained traction among enterprise users and developers.
