About wonderwhy-er/DesktopCommanderMCP

Desktop Commander MCP is an open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server designed to give AI assistants like Claude powerful file system and terminal control capabilities. It enables AI to search, read, update files, execute long-running terminal commands, and manage processes—all from within a chat interface. Built on top of the MCP Filesystem Server, it adds diff-based file editing and enhanced search. The tool supports remote AI control, allowing use from ChatGPT and Claude web, and includes a File Preview UI in Claude Desktop with rendered markdown, inline images, an editor, and quick file access. It can execute code in memory (Python, Node.js, R) without saving files and perform instant data analysis (e.g., CSV/JSON). A companion Desktop Commander App (Beta) is also available for a more polished experience with any AI model and live file previews.
